So my week of awesomeness continues being awesome. Another gift for me posted! ART. Yes, someone really loves me. *buys another lotto ticket*

The only downside is that I'm pretty sure this is the last possible gift to post for me, lol. BUT! Considering how awesome everything I've been given has been? I am so so so lucky.

Today's gift: Taste on Kinky Kristmas, which is ART, of the VERY not safe for work or inlaws or children variety. It's a gorgeously drawn Kingsley and Charlie (unf!) and there are bits of male anatomy sort of front and center, but dude. The tongue and the licking and the hipbones? I'm...just... unf. And ngngngh!

I believe I shall just collapse right here into a puddle of gooey squee. *collapses*


Also, and this is like a 180° twist in this post, but leela_cat is doing a Eight Days of Hanukah event on her journal. I've already snagged some delicious recipes from her and read one of the most beautiful bits of original femslash, but yesterday's offering was a Snape-centric gen fic which is just completely moving. The Friday Box is a story you really need to read.

The electrician came out yesterday to look at the lights. He thinks the problem actually lies with the kitchen lights, so tomorrow he's supposed to come back, replace the ballasts and the wire ends, and check for conductivity. If the conductivity's off he'll replace the wiring itself, which will add another hundred to the repair cost. But at least afterward we'll be able to turn on the Christmas tree again and watch TV upstairs!

My Christmas shopping is done! Dad G and I finished it yesterday. He and Mom G still need to pick up a few stocking stuffers, but other than that it's all taken care of. Hubby wrapped most of the presents last night and hid them away from curious little Bean eyes and hands, and those go under the tree Christmas Eve after the wee one's in bed.

Bean and I watched the new trailer for "Alice in Wonderland" yesterday. Afterward I exclaimed "Duuude!" because it was so awesome, and a moment later a tiny little voice echoed, "Dood." She looked up at me, rather solemnly impressed, so we watched it again. :D I'm still surprised she hasn't picked up any four-letter words yet, but I'm not one who swears often, so I'll have to be extra careful not to accidentally drop the f-bomb while she's around. Others in the house have, so she's apparently picking up most of her vocabulary from me (she's become quite good at "Darn it"). She's still behind compared to other kids her age verbally, but she's picking up new words all the time, so I figure it's only a matter of time before she catches up.

Dad G also picked up baking supplies this morning, so I'm planning to whip up a couple of batches of cookie dough this afternoon. They'll chill in the fridge until Saturday, so all Mom G and I will have to do is roll and bake!

I also finished my Kinky Kristmas fic, just waiting to hear back from my beta. Next up is Yuletide. I'm going to give the source material a final look-see sometime this evening, more for details than anything else, since the plotbunny is there. I've never written for a fandom not HP until now, so I'm a bit wibbly.

Also, gah! So behind on fest reading! I'm going to have to leave some comment-love for some anonymous authors today between everything else going on!

And on top of everything else, I have got to clean house this weekend. Got to!

Oh, -17C? That must be why I'm shivering. I've got to go pick up my new glasses today, but I'm really not so keen on going out. This is forehead-freezing weather, people, when those ice crystals start forming in your eyelashes.

On the plus side, if it stays below zero for awhile the canal should freeze well. I'm already craving beavertails!

What season is it? It's fic/art exchange season!

Okay, not that I've really had a chance to read much of anything yet since I'm hip deep in final exam grading (and finishing my yuletide fic, a process which is swiftly approaching the OMG BEARS! phase *g*), but I did want to draw your attention to the two other fests I'm currently participating in:

1. snapelyholidays. I haven't received my story yet, but for those of you who, like me, love Snape in all pairings, this year's assortment will make you think it's your birthday! Along with the always welcome Snape/Harry and Snape/Lupin and Snape/Hermione, we've already had Snape paired with Lily and McGonagall and Regulus and Sirius and Dumbledore and Lucius and Neville and Filch and Moody and Slughorn and Shacklebolt. Wheee!

2. And then there's Good Omens. The go_exchange is one of my "must-do" fests each year, even though I'm only on the periphery of that fandom, and one of the reasons is because of stories like the one I received this year: a long, wonderfully written, future history that's only dystopian to the extent that a canonical Apocalypse is dystopian, which...oh. Hmm. No, okay, go back to where I said "wonderfully written" and then add original and clever. "World Without End"...go read!

Oh, and just as an addendum: I will be running hp_beholder (the fic/art exchange designed to get some loving for the most unloved of HP characters) for the third time. Sign-ups will commence at the end of January/start of February (to give everybody a chance to recover from the holiday fic blitz). And just so you know, I'm giving each new participant this year a car! (*is a lying liar who lies*)
